Free Public Liability Insurance for Neighbourhood Watches
Neighbourhood Watches can now get free Public Liability Insurance (PLI) provided
by CaSE Insurance and underwritten by Ansvar Insurance Company Ltd.
If your Neighbourhood Watch / Scheme / Association (referred to from now on as Neighbourhood
Watch) benefited from free PLI during 2007/8, you need to make sure you renew your
policy for the year beginning 1 April 2008. There is no automatic renewal of cover.

When prompted, please provide your :
- Police Reference Number
- Username
- Password
Follow the instructions and have available the following information…
- Area covered by your Neighbourhood Watch
- Contact details
- Number of households in your Neighbourhood Watch
If your Neighbourhood Watch is not covered by the policy you need to
2.1) Register your Neighbourhood Watch with your local police force and then
2.2) Register online for free Public Liability Cover
Contact the Neighbourhood Watch Liaison Officer in your local police force (the
title may vary from force to force) and register your Neighbourhood Watch
Have these details ready:
- Contact details of the Neighbourhood Watch coordinator
- Number of active schemes (if you’re an association)
- Number of households covered
- Number of active members
- Streets covered (postcode)
The force will then issue you with your
- Police reference number
- Username
- Password
Only when you have this information can you proceed to Step 2

and please note that for en-bloc registration…
- Associations will only need to register one Police Reference Number, Username and
Password
- All efforts must be made to ensure any information given is accurate
- The Association must ensure up-to-date records are held on all schemes
- Certificates of Insurance must be distributed to individual Scheme coordinators
If your scheme has a change of coordinator, it is important that you inform
CaSE Insurance so they can update their database, as this is used for renewal
reminders.
